Mission & Philosophy

What distinguishes Empowerment Options from other agencies is our commitment to the individual. We believe that it is vital for each of us to be empowered to take responsibility for our own path. This holds true for both our staff members and the consumers we serve. We instinctively know, and research supports, that those who have control over their own destiny are happier, healthier and more productive individuals. Stephen Covey, renowned trainer, motivator and author put it this way:

"In addition to self-awareness, imagination and conscience, it is the fourth human endowment - independent will - that really makes effective self-management possible. It is the ability to make decisions and choices and to act in accordance with them. It is the ability to act rather than to be acted upon, to proactively carry out the program we have developed through the other three endowments. Empowerment comes from learning how to use this great endowment in the decisions we make every day."

With this in mind, we have defined our mission at Empowerment Options to support this ideology -

Our Mission

We regard "quality services" as:

  1. Giving priority to each individual's desires and choices;
  2. Offering safe, stimulating environments; and
  3. Maximizing the integration of all the people we serve within the social and economic structure of the community.

In support of our mission, we strive to:

  1. Provide the resources to promote quality consumer care, staff satisfaction and dependability.
  2. Encourage and support decision-making by those who are most affected in a situation, even at the risk of error.
  3. Praise, support and recognize individuals to encourage personal growth.
  4. Encourage suggestions and criticisms and utilize them to facilitate improvements.
  5. Incorporate fair treatment into all employment practices.

Caroline Joy Adams, writer, artist, and spiritual seeker, articulates our company's philosophy and our daily goal when she encourages us "As much as possible, Empower, Inspire and Honor yourself and those around you, in all that you do, all that you say, in all that you create!"
